Making a difference: SCOPE project manager yalelet fentaw

SCOPE Project Manager, Yalelet Fentaw, plays a vital role in the success of our projects in Gondar such as the Leading Advances in the Uptake of Newborn Community Health (LAUNCH) and LAUNCH Implementation Science projects. Recently, Yalelet shared his perspectives on SCOPE’s work in Gondar about fostering community involvement, dealing with challenges, and keeping the big picture in mind.

 

Introducing the 2025 university of gondar SCOPE fellow

Bewuketu Terefe, BSc, MPH has been selected as the 2025 University of Gondar SCOPE Fellow.  He comes into the fellowship with a rich research background that he said grew during his three-year role as a data collector for the LAUNCH/SCOPE project.

Hiwot Weldemariam, SCOPE Fellow (UW)

UW SCOPE Fellow begins work in ethiopia

Hiwot Weldemariam, SCOPE Fellow (UW), traveled to Addis Ababa in December, to conduct formative research on mental health challenges affecting communities in the Gondar region, a conflict-impacted area. Her in-depth interviews with parents, youth, and other key stakeholders will inform the next phase of the project.

SCOPE is pleased to welcome David Citrin PhD, MPH as our new Managing Director.  Dr. Citrin will oversee SCOPE operations and planning. He is excited about the opportunity to work with SCOPE in continuing to build partnerships advancing population health outcomes for underserved communities in the Gondar region of Ethiopia, and working with our SCOPE Fellows.
