hiwot Weldemariam

Hiwot Weldemariam is a PhD student in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington. She holds an MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Washington, a Master of Public Policy from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, Japan, and a BA in Economics from Addis Ababa University. Prior to moving to the United States, Hiwot worked in both academic and industry settings as an outcomes researcher. Her current research focuses on mental health, substance use, and firearm violence among underserved and understudied populations.
