FELLOW 2025

Bewuketu Terefe comes into the fellowship with a rich research background that he said grew during his three-year role as a data collector for the LAUNCH/SCOPE project at the University of Gondar. During his time with LAUNCH, he gained experience in community-based interventions, health systems, research communications, and implementation science. The opportunity motivated him to pursue a SCOPE fellowship given its emphasis on mental health, community interventions, and collaborative research. 

He will contribute to the mental health SCOPE project by assisting with the conception of research ideas, engaging in community interventions with other fellows, and collaborating with the broader SCOPE team to address health challenges in the community.

Bewukete holds a BSc in Nursing and two Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees in Health Monitoring and Evaluation (2020) and Biostatistics (2024).  In addition to his fellowship, he is a lecturer and researcher at the University of Gondar, College of Medicine and Health Sciences. He has also served as a department head, thesis advisor, lecturing, and research coordinator at the School of Nursing, supporting student research and academic leadership. His dedication to research and community health continues to drive his commitment to improving healthcare delivery, both in Ethiopia and globally.
