SCOPE partners with medical and faith communities to improve health in Ethiopia through outreach, education, and training.

Dr Anteneh Girma M.D, was the first Ethiopian SCOPE fellow. He is a physician who teaches epidemiology to medical and MPH students at Gondar University. He was chosen by Dr Shitaye Alemu, head of Internal Medicine at Gondar University Medical School. Dr Anteneh was instrumental in forging the relationship between SCOPE and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in the North Gondar Diocese. In fact, he became the personal physician for the Archbishop. He was the liaison between the church, the CDC, and the Gondar medical community and was largely responsible for the success of the November 2010 VCT campaign. In July 2010 he completed the HIV/AIDS course given by the UW Department of Global Health in Seattle, Washington.
